#birdsMy cat is terrified of redtails. She knows one lives around back on a nearby high-rise and when we go on the roof together she always has to stand at the door and scan around to see if it is there.
It's probably wise of her ... but I still find it funny how worried she is.

I say to her "Pica there is more to life than who you think you can eat and who you think might eat you."
But I don't think she's buying it.

@futurebird @JoBlakely Igor (my pet lizard - a 17-year-old Northern blue-tongue skink who's lived with humans for his entire life) is almost ridiculously friendly to pretty much every animal he meets - aside from humans, even dogs and cats don't freak him out. He doesn't really seem to have any understanding that other animals might want to hurt him.
Except birds. He HATES birds. The moment one gets too close (which seems to mean "within his range of sight"), he will put on the full Godzilla show. It doesn't matter if it's a tiny little sparrow or something like that - if it looks like a bird, it is DANGER INCARNATE and must be chased off.
(obviously he never goes near other animals without close supervision, or without a friendly primate ready to chase off birds that actually *could* be a threat. Also, in the downtown parks near where we live, there aren't any large birds of prey.)
