Fair. And now I'm apparently "a raging conservative" wow. Good to know.

@futurebird welcome to the club. While I am more of a cranky conservative than a raging one, I believe that is good to conserve what good things we have, or at least not make them worse

This logo is being pushed as a story about "conservatives are mad about it" (are they really? Hm.) and to conservatives as "the left did this?" (No.)

This isn't politically aligned. It's corporate, soulless. You can get a car in any color you like as long as it is gray. Every apartment has white walls. It's a design trend driven by sanding down the texture of everything so it can be monetized.

The old logo is brimming with *diversity* and character.

Are "conservatives" angry? Or are they just being told to be be angry about something that is objectively annoying?

It's odd to me that this is surfacing in media as "conservative" when I think it's much more popular than that. And I first encountered annoyed essays and rants about this design trend in VERY left wing circles where everyone said "yes, capitalism is ugly again"

Not "cars have gone woke because they are gray" Frankly I don't even get how the logic on that could work.

How is having less uniqueness ... "woke" ? Isn't it the other way around?

@futurebird @alter_kaker @liferstate you can still get a red car, except that you have to buy the most expensive model to have that choice. Having a non-grey car is now a demonstration of status, rather than aesthetic choice.

If I could drive and if I needed a car ... which I don't, I'd want a nice dark orange one.

                            It's such a self own.

If you aren't woke it means you are easily tricked. You're a dupe. Useful for being clueless. A sucker.

What is the opposite of "woke" ... it's being asleep.

I'm proceeding from now on with the assumption that any news story "conservatives/liberals are mad about (minor thing)" is probably nonsense based on a few dozen tweets and it may or may not have any real relevance.

                              Find a new framing device.

I think some media miss the cycle of "liberals are mad about this silly thing" and they are trying to recreate it.

To some degree it's funny to do such stories about conservatives but it's also just an annoying way to frame politics. It's boring.

It's possible to talk about small issues about design and advertising without becoming ... crazy. These things do matter. Not as much as other issues, but part of the framing feels like "how dare you analyze anything!"
