    I dunno, in some ways I've been waiting 10 years for this Epstein story to finally break the public consciousness; but now that it has, I don't really have much to say.

    What fucked me up about researching that story was always that I wasn't uncovering secrets. Everything I found was more or less public knowledge and usually reported by credible outlets, just purposely memory-holed

    I came away thinking "jeezus, if you're rich and powerful enough, NOTHING matters." So many ppl are guilty in this

      That guy who ran Victoria's Secret? I just realized *that* was connected. And that nothing came of any of it.

        When I was but a tween girl in Ohio I used to do a lot of auditions, there's a kind of culture around that, kids just wanting to get into show business. Well. There was this VERY infamous "teen beauty" contest that I remember the local theatre people taking the time to warn us all NOT to try out for even though it was in with all of the other listings.

        Being a child no one said directly exactly why, but even at that age I could infer things.

          I was always so jealous of my friends who got to do modeling. Now I thank the lord I was in a few AT&T commercials and an extra.

          Theater was always more fun anyway.

            I keep coming back to this but the director of the local theater had clearly talked to all of our parents first. Then they gathered all of us, about 20 girls, and just the girls in the green room and told us that if we wanted to do outside auditions we should be careful.

            I think they had an advertisement for one of these operations on the board where they posted local auditions and felt bad about it!

            Perhaps someone went and something happened. It was very scary.

              @futurebird @AnarchoNinaWrites I've seen people dispute the idea that Epstein was blackmailing people, but the Wexner situation doesn't have any other explanation that I can see.

                @jhavok @AnarchoNinaWrites

                There are a lot of notions about this that I've written off because they came from bad sources who use bad reasoning. However as more evidence is exposed I think some otherwise crazy people may have been right about a few things (eg. it wasn't suicide) or at least it is unreasonable to rule that out.

                The sheer amount of noise and ulterior motives makes the whole thing very difficult to parse.
