There'll still be cash-grab GAAS out there, but eventually investors are going to put it together that it's not a safe gamble. But unlike the ET "moment", *video games* as an industry, product, and art medium are here to stay. Making the things is too accessible now for the entire concept to ever be at risk again. The ET moment didn't just threaten Atari, it threatened the concept of home consoles. Trying to imagine a single steaming pile of shit or even industry trend "threatening video games" now is like imagining a movie so bad that it kills cinema. Even if every single shareholder-backed games studio got rugpulled tomorrow, there are plenty of other studios out there to pick up the slack.

It's been 5 years since they pulled that reprehensible shit on RedCandleGames and their game Devotion, and I still haven't spent a penny on their store because of it. Fuck them. Tankie cunts.

That's the kicker. Getting games on release now feels like early access. I've been hyped for a few games in day one and there's either server issues, driver issues, crashes, what have you. These things are so rushed they need a year to be finished. By then you'll know if it flops too, avoid getting caught in the hype.

Let's gooo! I'm hyped, I love the first one for its unique approach to survival games, especially for having a map that was designed and not procedural. A new one with a bigger backyard and more features will be very welcomed.
