@futurebird Apparently in LA, Proud Boy types have been cosplaying as ICE and harassing people. Maybe they think they can get bounties? No idea what they are thinking.

You might need to put up some signs in Chicago that say "All Federal ICE and Law Enforcement agents must be clearly identifiable and may not cover their faces." -
The very best craftmanship you will ever encounter is always the work of some person who doesn't charge enough, and then they decide to go spend some time in the woods and you can never find them again.@futurebird There was this guy who had a taco operation in a brewery. He didn't have a truck. They were delicious and he grossly undercharged for them, I usually tipped him 100% and still felt like I was underpaying him. I really only went to that brewery for his tacos and usually got just one beer. The brewery closed and I don't know what happened to the taco guy. So yeah.

@emilymbender@futurebird @emilymbender There's one exception. As a rule, the text that the LLM processes is not just what you type; it's a detailed set of instructions (the "system prompt") followed by what you type. In many cases, the LLM can be tricked into revealing the system prompt despite strong instructions in that prompt saying not to do so. So in that sense an LLM can be directed to reveal information about itself. But for anything beyond the text it has been presented with it does not "know", so it will make up something plausible in the sense of being high probability. I think in many cases where some wild behavior is produced, the response is being cribbed from one or more SF stories in the input data (so many stories about robots going rogue to choose from and they've all been fed into the training data).

I didn't know @rbreich was secretary of labor.@futurebird @rbreich Yes, under Clinton, though they didn't get along that well because Clinton was way to his right.
